She knew this was one of their responsibilities, because we went over it months ago when we first signed them on. Yet, she spent two days sending me email after email, with one excuse after another, trying to get out of it. They’re known for pulling things like this. When determined to get their way, they won’t stop until they win. Continue reading
See what they spew from their mouths— the words from their lips are sharp as swords, and they think, “Who can hear us?” (Psalm 59:7)
She must have accidently butt-dialed me, because she would have never allowed anyone to hear her speaking to her husband like that. She wasn’t yelling, nor did she sound angry. He listened and made a comment or two, but she did most of the talking. The problem was she spoke to him in an all too familiar know-it-all, condescending, and disrespectful manner. Continue reading
“We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
Monday was a particularly difficult day at work this past week. Not only for me, but for many of my colleagues. We were each rushing back and forth from our desks checking on things, responding to various challenges via email, and returning calls to clients with pressing needs. If it wasn’t one thing, it was another – all morning long!
“It’s Monday!” I heard someone say, as someone else nodded in agreement while passing by. I heard the “It’s Monday!” phrase several other times that morning. Are all Mondays really this hectic and problematic? Continue reading
“Do all things without complaining and disputing.” Philippians 2:14 (NKJV)
I recently came across the following pledge which convicted me of my own negativity. I’m passing this on to you as a challenge to see how long you can remain totally complaint-free. A day? A week? Longer? Maybe, only one hour? LOL! Trust me, it’s easier said than done, but not impossible if you make a conscious effort, when about to speak, to pause, ponder, and pray.
When you are forgotten, or neglected, or purposely set at naught, and you don’t sting and hurt with the insult or the oversight, but your heart is happy, being counted worthy to suffer for Christ,
THAT IS DYING TO SELF. Continue reading
“I do not understand my own actions. For I do not do what I want, but I do the very thing I hate.” Romans 7:15
They pretty much threw me under the bus. Rather than defend me, they took her side. She now felt even more justified in treating me the way she had.
I’d be lying if I said it didn’t bother me or that I didn’t stew over it for hours. The truth is, I stewed over it for three entire days! Continue reading
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Proverbs 4:23
She honked at me! I couldn’t believe she had honked at me! There were three cars ahead of me at the drive-through window and they had moved up just a little and I hadn’t. So she honked to get my attention. Continue reading
