I had gone to the bathroom to take care of business. When I stood and flushed, the waste water suddenly rose very quickly to the top and began to overflow fast and furiously. Like a raging river, it made its way out the bathroom, down the hall, and towards the living room in record speed, destroying everything in its path. I tried yelling ahead to loved ones in the living room to “look out!” but it was too late. They had been swept away in the river of filth. Continue reading
There should be an obvious difference between Christians and non-Christians; but that’s not always the case. The unchurched have not held back from sharing their assessment of Christians. They see us as nothing more than a bunch of hypocrites. Continue reading
It was a minor fender bender. I was slowly backing out of the Wal-Mart parking space when . . . CRUNCH!!

I lost 8 ½ lbs in just 3 weeks. I was stoked! How much more will I lose next week? Can I lose just as much next month? Losing eight to 10 pounds a month sounded like a good amount to me. Let’s see . . . if I lose 10 pounds a month, in six months . . . Continue reading
See what they spew from their mouths— the words from their lips are sharp as swords, and they think, “Who can hear us?” (Psalm 59:7)
She must have accidently butt-dialed me, because she would have never allowed anyone to hear her speaking to her husband like that. She wasn’t yelling, nor did she sound angry. “We are hard pressed on every side, yet not crushed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed.” 2 Corinthians 4:8-9
Monday was a particularly difficult day at work this past week. Not only for me, but for many of my colleagues. We were each rushing back and forth from our desks checking on things, responding to various challenges via email, and returning calls to clients with pressing needs. If it wasn’t one thing, it was another – all morning long!
“It’s Monday!” I heard someone say, as someone else nodded in agreement while passing by. I heard the “It’s Monday!” phrase several other times that morning. Are all Mondays really this hectic and problematic? Continue reading
“Do all things without complaining and disputing.” Philippians 2:14 (NKJV)
I recently came across the following pledge which convicted me of my own negativity. I’m passing this on to you as a challenge to see how long you can remain totally complaint-free. A day? A week? Longer? Maybe, only one hour? LOL! Trust me, it’s easier said than done, but not impossible if you make a conscious effort, when about to speak, to pause, ponder, and pray.
