THOUGHT FOR TODAY: Search for it as for hidden treasures. Proverbs 2:4
I couldn’t find it anywhere. I tore through the office and looked under the computer desk. I went though each folder in my file cabinet. I flipped through piles of paper and books on the futon behind me. I even dug through the discarded heap in my trash can. And still, nothing. Where did I leave her book? I had promised to return it that night.
Checking again on the bed in the adjacent room where I often lie down to read, I found it next to the comforter. I embraced the little book to my chest and sighed with relief. I ran upstairs, grabbed my car keys from the recliner, and hurried off to return the book to my friend as promised.
The first four chapters of Proverbs talk about the importance of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding. We are to search them out as one would search for silver or hidden treasures. While you may have never gone on a quest for silver, maybe you have turned everything upside down to look for lost keys, reading glasses, or a check. Isn’t it time to obey God’s call to hunt for wisdom?
PRAYER: Lord, may my desire for your wisdom be greater than any earthly thing. I will turn my ear to wisdom and apply my heart to understanding (Proverbs 2:2) so that I may know you more. Amen
