With only a few days left until Christmas, there are still cards to mail, gifts to wrap, bags to pack, stockings to stuff, lights to put up, cookies to bake, and parties to attend.
If that’s you, then maybe it’s time to pull yourself away from the preparation of Christmas to spend time with the Person of Christmas. Jesus Christ. The Prince of Peace.
And who couldn’t use a little serenity in their lives right about now?!
Go ahead. Quiet yourself before Him and meditate on His humble birth, His life as Servant and King, and the priceless gift of salvation He purchased for each one of us.
Praise Him for who He is and tell Him how much you love Him. Bask in His presence and allow Him to refresh you. Rest in Him and be filled with His peace.
Ask Him to open your eyes to clearly see the things that really matter this Christmas. When it’s all said and done you’ll find that it wasn’t about how many cards you mailed out and got back. Nor was it about giving the perfect gifts or having the most festive decorations. It won’t even be about the glazed ham you baked or the dozens of cookies you decorated.
Make this Christmas about the lives you touch
Offer the gift of forgiveness and a second chance to the one from whom you’ve alienated yourself. People change.
Give others the opportunity to talk your ear off while you listen attentively. Let it be all about them.
Insist that everyone else to go first – in lines, in traffic, and through doors – no matter how late it makes you.
Do whatever it takes to encourage, love, honor, and respect every person with whom you come in contact.
Share the heart of Jesus this Christmas by giving your all to others. Let that be your gift to Him!
PRAYER: Lord, thank you for reminding me of the true meaning of Christmas – that God so loved the world, He gave . . . Amen.
