Not Without God

“Commit your works to the LORD and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16:3

680x400-Holiday-RedWhiteBlue_0[1]It’s the 4th of July holiday weekend and my husband and I are looking forward to visiting our granddaughter in Utah. I got off early from work this morning so that I could wrap up the rest of our travel preparations. On the way home, I smiled as I read the marquee sign outside a small church only a few blocks away from our house:

GOD NEVER TAKES A VACATION

What assurance! The Bible also says, “He who watches over you will not slumber.” (Psalm 121:3)  Sometimes we breeze right through these simple truths without giving them a second thought, but this is a good one to camp on for a bit.

God is on call 24/7 every single day of the year. He never sleeps, nor does He slumber. He keeps watch over us at all times and is ready to hear and answer any prayer needs we may have, if we stop and

make time in our busy schedules to seek Him

And what better time to seek Him than right before we travel? Or just before heading out to the park this evening to see the fireworks display? How about prior to our family and friends arriving for the big, party celebration?

Whatever your plans are this weekend, don’t leave God out. Commit each day, each event, each plan to Him and He will establish it. Allow yourself quality time to spend with Him. Let’s thank Him for caring for us at all times. Pray for His love and grace to be increased among those with whom we will be celebrating. Praise Him for who He is and all He’s done.

Of course, you may want to do nothing more this weekend than to sit quietly before Him and bask in His presence. He’d love to hear how much you love Him!

PRAYER: Lord, thank you for reminding me to put You first at all times and in all areas of my life. Amen.
